Biography: Tony Brown
Tony Brown was born in 1951 and lives in the picturesque village of Shaldon on the South Devon Coast.
He started writing 30 years ago but was too busy travelling abroad on business to get his writing finished to a publishable standard! Some of this business included having coffee with Saddam Hussein, Dinner with the Shah of Iran and being shot at by Basque separatists in Northern Spain! This sense of adventure manifests itself in much of his work, which have a strong narrative, sense of place and believable characters.
His work includes:
Two novels set in Switzerland;
A collection of short stories
A humorous science fantasy book-the first in a trilogy
A Science fiction book ‘Dangerous Friends.’set on 21 parallel worlds and the first part of a trilogy. Much of the action in this one takes place in Torbay. The second in the trilogy is due for publication in 2007 when the action starts in Teignmouth and moves to Torbay and Burgh island.
*Released mid Summer is a further science fiction trilogy, based on the real life village of Shaldon.
Tony writes primarily for older children and adults and enjoys tackling big themes which have a modern resonance.
Future writing projects include another science fiction trilogy, set in Teignmouth, Dartmoor and North Devon, and a murder mystery story.
Tony is married with two children, is a trustee of the Teignmouth Regeneration Project and a member of the South West Regional Flood Defence Committee.
